We went with “Overjoyed” by Stevie Wonder for everybody… My dad and I ultimately danced through the whole song, but Nick and his mom joined in at the second verse, and then the wedding party joined in during the last chorus.

Stepped into the elevator at work and was looking up at the monitor and learned that Farah Fawcett passed away after a long battle with cancer… I just shook my head and began to think about her family.  I couldn’t help but think how these things normally happen in 3’s.  First Ed McMahon, then Farah… I immediately thought, who’s next?

So I rush home, as always, to catch the last 30 minutes of Y&R, and then found out at 5:30 sharp that “Michael Jackson was suffering from cardiac arrest and it doesn’t look good”.  I believed in heart that he would make it.  He didn’t.  I’m just speechless, and in tears listening to P.Y.T.

Rest In Peace Michael Jackson… “Gone Too Soon”

I know what your thinking… two posts in two days?  I had a lot of time on my hands last night.  My thing is this,  I have the copy ready… it just takes time to decide what pics I want to use!

Back the recaps!  The wedding party entered the hall to “Magic” by Robin Thicke. It’s a very up beat song… all of us was bumping to the beats as our DJ was revving up the crowd.

I was trying to figure out who did the song featured in our SDE for the longest time, and Nick came through.

Love the song y’all! I can’t stop singing it, and I ad lib the different parts of our video, like when I say “Mom look what Nick got us!” I can’t stand my voice and I can’t believe I sound like that!

Anyways enjoy the tune.

P.S. I know I owe y’all some pre and post wedding posts. All in due time, my apologies for the delay. Soon come!

They don’t call me “radio” for nothing, I love music. Choosing a play list is going to be easy for me. Mom and I attended a wedding of a family friend back in October and loved his work. His name is Greg Laird of Essence Sound and Lighting. I love, love, loved his work, and he know exactly what to play to get everybody up on the dance floor… even the old tunes for the older generation.
.
I can’t wait for our first dance which has special meaning to us both. It’s “More Than Words” by Extreme, it’s the first song Nick played for me on his guitar. Take a listen… along with some other choice selections.

So ya, we are currently reviewing songs we would like to hear at the party of the year… so please add your suggestions!

And oh, I forgot to add…

Happy Birthday Dad, and Happy Canada Day all!

So it’s been a week since Nick left for his training and it’s been rough, but I’ve managed to accomplish a lot in his absence. I had my eye on this one DJ who played at a family friends wedding back in November 2007, and we’ve been talking about song selection and what not, but I wasn’t sure if we actually booked him… So I gave Greg a quick call and he put my mind to ease. Everything is set in stone. Now we have to come up with song selections and decide who the MC will be.

So everything is planned. We just have to decide on flowers and favors. Oh and of course the invites! I have something picked out, but I will not be posting about it. I want to keep that as a surprise. I’m a little old fashioned in that respect. All you need to know is they will look very chic ;)
