Makeup:  Michelle from M•A•C

Grade:  A+

Loved, loved, LOVED the make-up.  I ended buying all of the make-up used (in the weeks prior to the wedding) so I could master the look.  So subtle, yet so chic!  I’ll admit it though, I’ve strayed once in our 3 year relationship… I had to have my makeup done for an after work dinner party downtown late last year :)

Michelle is gonna do my makeup for my post wedding shots, which quickly turned into our anniversary photos (I gain a little extra weight while in Victoria).  I’m thinking of going for a smokey eye… never done that before!

Thanks again Michelle!

Stationer:  Winggleam Studios

Grade:  A+++

One of the most important people of the day… you know what they say, how the invite sets the tone of the celebration yadda, yadda, yadda… My big sis from Winggleam Studios did just that.  She’s a freelance photog/graphic artist based in the UK.  Which worked perfectly for me, cuz any changes that needed to be done were ready for my approval the next morning.

I learned a lot about desk top publishing by working on these invites with my sis.  I definitely had my “vision” on how I wanted them to look like, but  she executed it with such professionalism! Everyone loved the way the invites turned out and all of the little details throughout the night… from the idea for the wish bowl note cards, to the photo seating chart.  Can you believe she whipped that out in less than 10 minutes?  She’s just that good!

… but I want it, and I got it!

MAC Cosmetics has come out with some cute value sets, called Upstarts Travel Kits. Each kit contains two full size products and two travel size products in a zip-around clear-with-black trim makeup bag.

This couldn’t have come at a better time cuz I was just about out of my mascara and Prep + Prime Skin! And the best part is, shipping is free through my birthday September 7th! I had to purchase it… as little present to moi!

Here’s what you can get:

Upstarts Flawless ($70.50 CA)

Two regular-sized Mineralize face products, Mineralize SatinFinish SPF 15 Foundation in your choice of shade, and Mineralize SkinFinish in Soft & Gentle, and two complementary M∙A∙C skincare products, Cleanse Off Oil Tranquil, and Charged Water in Revitalizing Energy, each in promotional sizes.

Upstarts Lined & Lashed ($32.50 CA)

Includes a complementary set of Zoomlash, Prep + Prime Lash, and promo sizes of Pro Eye Makeup Remover and Nightsky Softsparkle Pencil.

Upstarts Well Prepared ($56.50 CA)

Includes regular sizes of Prep + Prime Skin, and Prep + Prime Translucent Powder, and promotional sizes of Cleanse Off Oil and Fix +.

I ended up getting the Lined & Lashed and Well Prepared sets. I don’t have much use for the other set, since I pretty much have the full sized products.

Although I already have sooo many MAC make-up bags, I still didn’t have a proper clear “travel set”. When I travel I normally use a cute MAC zip up case I got years ago, but it doesn’t really hold a lot, I actually ended up putting all of my makeup in one of those clear plastic zipped bags that came with my suitcase, it did the job and everything was visible.

I’m loving this set already, and just in time for my birthday on Labour Day… once again September 7th. Damn, it’s coming up close!

I woke up freaking early that morning, mainly to be the first one in the bathroom so I can get out the door.  I fell asleep soundly in  my room with my Mindy Weiss eye mask… which I forgot to give Nikko the night before, so he couldn’t use his :(

I was calm, and excited at the same time. I woke up my sister who was going to be the photog for the morning while we all got ready. My mom of course was already up brewing coffee and started breakfast, but I just wanted to get out of there. I tied my hair in a pony tail, rallied my two nieces, sister and mom and we we’re out. We were kind running late and had no time to put gas in the car which was running on empty doh!

I had washed my hair the day before to cut down on the time… my appointment was at 7:30 am and I had to be out of there by 9:30 for my make-up application.  I brought my laptop along to show my hair dresser Dionne… yes I did have a trial but I’m a perfectionist, what can I say.

Sorry, I had to say that, cuz I didn’t recognize myself after my first make-up trial at MAC. I went from this:

I’m a MAC girl, and although I normally get my make-up done at the MAC counter for any special occasions, this time, I’m going to ask my MAC artist (Michelle) to come to our house to complete our looks for the big day. Michelle is an amazing artist and I always book an appointment with her whenever I need a consult. It all comes down to this; the only thing I want to do on my own that day is take a shower and eat. I’m going my girls with a make-up session… My mom too if she wants.

I was originally planning on going to the mall to have our make-up done, that way the ladies could take home some free product, but I don’t think mall security would allow a 2 man video crew, maybe they would, but why chance it?

So now begins the fun part, what look should I go for? I love Tyra Banks’ subtle smokey eye look, and Beyonce’s too! But seeing how I will probably be balling the whole day (no pun intended) , I need to make sure everything stays in place, so I will have to go easy on the dramatic looks, plus I don’t want to date myself in the pics. Decisions, decisions!

Here are some of the looks I’m feeling…
