We decided to go with the decor company recommended by the hall; you know when they have their “preferred vendors”. Of course there was no pressure to use them, but we liked their work.

This is a long post, sorry y’all, but I felt I had to do it for the benefit of all of the GTA brides out there
Not the store, but our decor for the big day. Nick and I went to our vendor Luxel Décor to finalize our selections.
Here is our room:

Here’s what we wanna go with:

While I was researching wedding shops in Victoria in anticipation of my trip out west, I happened upon a site selling these Mint Julep Cups. They are nice and small, about 3.5″, which is fine because we have decided on have a smaller centre piece so our guest can actually see each other at the table. We were originally going to go with a small square glass vase, lined with banana leaves and filled with hydrangeas but I think these look more classy… perhaps surrounded with some tea lights.
This would look great with 3 stems of Hydrangeas

They come in three standard sizes: small (2.75″H x 2.5″W x 8.5″C), medium (3.5″H x 2.5″W x 8.5″C) and large (4.5″H x 3.25″W x 10.5″C). I really want to go with the medium at only $9/cup, which isn’t too bad. I’ll have to get the OK from Nick before I make any more expenditures.

I would love to have a bonsai tree or just branches with buds on it, but I haven’t a clue where to get them. I’ve seen a some decor branches at the Bay, but not in the quantity or price I needed them in. I’ve found some good ideas on-line, here’s a pic of my ideal wish tree. Sure it’s a little tall, but not too full.

I’ve been thinking of having a theme for the wedding… now I say “I” here, because Nick is still away and really doesn’t have a say in the matter. Since I’m so in love with Mindy Wiess‘ lovebirds theme, I decided to steal her idea! Tee hee!
So to continue on with our (read: my) new found theme, I decided to order these “love birds” from Rain’s End off of Etsy. I got the idea from another blogger from my many Wedding blogs I frequent. It will be a while before I get mine, but I had to share because they’re so cute! It was a custom order… my bird will be a light brown/camel colour with brown eyes, a two tiered veil, and a bright pink bouquet of peonies sans base.

I also picked up the Mindy Weiss quilted shoe bag with two lavender scented sachets for all of the shoes I have for the big day.

I’ve been reading blogs left, right and center… there is so much information out there, it’s crazy! I have been able to pinpoint the main colours for the wedding. Navy and fuchsia. So now begins the hard part… what should be blue and what should be pink? I’ve already decided on have the ladies wear navy for there dresses, and it would be ideal to have the men wear blue too (not every guy looks good in pink).

We’re thinking of using pink as the accent colour, like for the flowers, center pieces and sashes for the flower girls. I was hoping to have a custom aisle runner made with out colours, but we just found out that church does not allow them… I just hope they sweep up the floor when I walk down the aisle. I was filthy that last time Nick & I were there. I didn’t realize there were so many restrictions to a Catholic ceremony. Decor wise, we’ll add some tulle to the pews and some basic flowers… nothing too ornate.
