Gearing up for Canada’s Bridal Show next Friday. I went to last years show… err I mean this past January’s show. I can’t believe this Thursday is New Year’s Day! I dragged Nick to the fall show, hoping to get some good deals, there weren’t as many vendors. What a waste of money!
Anyways, We are sooo in the home stretch! We picked out my wedding band this past Saturday, and I got the call today that the ring is ready! And my search for a cupcake stand has concluded. I’ve been doing Google searches for cupcake stands for the longest time, and looky what popped up!

I know, I know after I say what I’m going to say, I will start to sound like a broken record, but working for Gap had it’s perks… I had the opportunity to get a fantastic discount off of all of Gap’s brands… including Banana Republic.
I’ve blogged before about not getting the chance to pick up the ivory caplet, but I’m confident that I’ve made the right choice in having my mom, who is an amazing seamstress, make a cute opera jacket that will look similar to this:

Mine will look except it is not double breasted, and mine has 3/4 length sleeves. It will be made out of ivory brocade with fuchsia pink lining.
So ya, I’m recovering nicely from my surgery, and still hurts to laugh, but I can’t complain. Everything looks good health wise, and I can’t wait to completely heal so I can try on my dress! I’m going to make an event of it, I’ll call up my girls and we’ll have a fittin’ party! Their dresses are due to arrive in January… around the same time I should be fully healed. And check it, I’ve reached a milestone today… I can now operate a motorized vehicle! Yay me!
You’d think staying cooped up in the house for the last two weeks would have been easy, but it was hard! I had times when I couldn’t even get up by myself… but again, I shouldn’t complain. I’m just happy to be doing and feeling better! Thanks to everyone for their well wishes, cards and flowers! I have to send out thank-yous for those and for my bridal shower too (yet another thing on my to do list).
What I’m most excited about is finally getting back into the gym. I was amazed at how much weight I put on after the surgery… I gained a whopping 20 lbs due in part to the IV I was on 24/7 I was so bloated, I felt like play-doh. The weight melted away, and then some, now I don’t want to jinx myself but I have a feeling I will be a sexy lil’ bride after all! I can’t wait to try on Precious 2.0! Right now, she is just there hanging taunting me.
And since I could get out an go shopping, I did the next best thing… eBay! I bought this cute hoodie from Victoria’s Secret. It was a little concerned on the sizing but it fits perfectly!
“Sexy Little Bride” diamanté hoodie
I just need a pair of pants to match and I’m set for the morning! Just over 3 months to go y’all!
EDIT to add: I purchased the hoodie from Kristy’s Boutique. I too had to ask around to make sure on the sizing and was told it fits kinda small. I normally wear a small in tops/hoodies and ended picking up a medium, and it fits great. I mean it’s not as tight as the pic above (not that I wanted it to be) but there’s a bit a room left over, enough to wear a tank top.

More etsy love to share! I got these from etsy seller The Garter Lady aside from a little mix-up with the order, I and sooo happy in the way they turned out. I’ll have one for me and one for the toss.
The top one is the throw away garter… the bottom is mine to keep!
Here is the combo so far, I got the shoes for the ceremony and reception, purse and garter set.

So the sum’n blue is outta the way, and I got the sum’n new (Precious 2.0)… I haven’t gotten any offers for the sum’n old, and borrowed yet. How do I go about asking people? Should I go around and ask people? What is the protocol?
According to this report, the GTA is likely to see warmer than average temperatures are for the months to come. Does that mean no snow for Nick & Nat on the big day?

Yes I do come from a West Indian family and I love the winter! I love getting dressed up in layers… and the accessories! I have so many hats and scarf sets it’s not funny… years from working at the Gap contributed to my vast collection. But aside from the clothes, winter is just a romantic time of the year. I would love to stroll through Times Square while the snow is blowing sipping on my favourite hot beverage… hot chocolate! Mmm Chocolate.
What about sports you may ask, well I’m not much into winter sports… as a matter of fact, I just took up ice skating within the last couple of years. Skiing is another story. Poor Nick, God bless his heart, has tried and tried to get me out on the slopes but I can’t hack it! I went as far as getting a new ski outfit, complete with snowboarder pants that came with a cool belt buckle but I digress… they now are packed up in the basement collecting dust. I guess what I’m trying to say is I love the romantic side of winter, not so much the sporty side.
I’ve been looking for images of a winter wedding for a while now, and while I have seen many, I couldn’t really identify with any of them. I’ve also seen some really cheesy pics you know the standard bride on skis or the infamous snow angels… I’m not getting on the dirty ground! This ain’t no trash the dress session!
These pics from the knot from a fellow February bride. Very simple yet poignant.

Very classy!
Ive looked high and low for a faux fur ivory caplet. The one pictured below is from a couple years ago. I had the presence in mind to fink up the gloves (in black) but I never thought to pick up the caplet in the white for my future wedding. Looking back, that would have been crazy to be that prepared for my pending nuptials.

So instead of trying to locate the caplet, my mom is going to make me a 3/4 length opera jacket similar to the one in the pic below. Mine is going to be ivory brocade with fuchsia pink lining.
I was all set to wear this jacket when our colours were going to be teal/tiffany blue and kelly green. Yes it is a little thin for winter, in fact it is a spring jacket. Ive had it for what, 3+ years and haven’t even worn it and it still has the tags on it.

I wanted to get the ladies a little sum’n sum’n that will: a) show them my appreciation and b) will help them out throughout the day. So I decided to go step further and hook them up with the following:

I’m a huge fan of these little shoe inserts called Foot Petals. I have them in most of my shoes. I went on a little foot petal spree on eBay last year and bought a whole leap of inserts from eBay seller Deals to Love.
Then I went ahead and purchased these initial pendants from eBay seller silver-garden. And yes, they do look like the Tiffany Elsa Peretti initial necklaces, but I got replicas for a fraction of the cost. SCORE!
“Tiffany” initial necklace
I also got them a shawl to go with their dresses and other goodies and put them in this:

This bag from Old Navy. I picked them up in the summer for only $6.99. SCORE!
