Mrs. D? Huh? What? Are you serious? That was the first time someone called me that! It felt good… but I’m still a McG y’all.

I can’t wait to change my name. At first I was dead set against it… I like my name. I like how it flows. Plus, I love the fact that all my names (first, middle and last) all have 7 letters, my lucky number. Who am I kidding, it’s everybody’s lucky number. I dreaded all of the paper work I would have to complete to make it legal.

But I have to admit it, I have been practicing writing out my new name, with and without the my soon to be maiden name. And it looks good! Aside from my stylish “N’s”, I write wicked “D’s”.

So the decision is… I will hyphenate my name with Nick’s.

Nap D out!

P.S. Nap D is my Hotmail handle I use going back to my NKOTB days… I wanted to have a name similar to Danny D. My favourite New Kid!

Nick plays the guitar… and he was quick to let me know that from the start.  More on that in a minute.

I found out about this website called Wordle which creates word clouds out of the text you provide.  A few brides are using it for their ceremony programs, which isn’t a bad idea if I do say so myself!

I tried it on our song which is “More Than Words” from Extreme… it is the first song Nick played for me on his guitar.

My sister Sandra and niece Deneeka are up from Florida for the week.  They came for a quick overnight visit and we had a great time.  My niece is soo tall y’all, now I know how mom feels being surrounded by all these tall people… and I’m 5′6!  We had a little BBQ just for the family, fun times were had by all!  Benny and Deneeka took pics, so I’ll post them once I get a chance.

I also took Deneeka to La Sposa Bella to try on the bridesmaid dress and the good news is, she fits perfectly into the sample, so there will be no alterations.  I also took her on a mini shopping spree for a couple of tops she was eying.  I also picked up a little sum’n sum’n for myself too!

It’s for “my trip to BC”… I’m have to justify the purchase somehow.  Besides, it can get quite cold on the island.  Nick even told me to bring a fall jacket to stay warm in the evenings.

I also have to figure out what to bring for the trip clothes wise.  I’ll definatly have to bringmy hiking shoes and work out wear.  Oooo I can’t wait, less than a month to go!

Ok, I’m gonna let the cat outta the bag… I can’t keep secrets from Nick. A while back, I told you that I picked up some other items but was reluctant to share. Well I can’t hold back any more.

Although we haven’t chosen a destination for our Honeymoon (I’m leaving that up to Nick), I know we are going to arrive in style! Along with our new luggage, I picked up a couple more items essential for travel:

And the pièce de résistance… The Bride and Groom eye masks. Most sutible for the night before the nuptials and the long plane ride to our tropical destination!

They are from Mindy Weiss’ Wedding Gift collection. She teamed up with Two’s Company and created these (and other) beautiful gifts for the bride, groom and bridesmaids. I immediately fell in love with the Wedding Planner (which I got for an awesome price) and her “bird theme” got me thinking of incorporating it in our wedding. The colors even match this blog. Truth be told, we were going to originally go with the Tiffany Blue theme for our wedding, but it seemed played out… not to offend the Tiffany brides out there, but I wanted something a little more punchy, or opulent, as my sister would say. Some gifts from our Engagement party included linens with the same general colour theme. It’s so serene and calm. Perfect for a winter wedding wouldn’t you say?

I love Mindy Wiess… she is so choice!

I was never a fan of the “mini-bride” flower girl type. There is just something wrong with dressing up a flower girl to look like the bride on the big day… some of the dresses are just too revealing. So we will be dressing our girls in the traditional ivory dress with lotsa tulle and a contrasting sash.

We have two adorable flower girls, Madeleine and Sierra. They became best buds at the engagement party and were so excited to learn that they would be flower girls together. I originally wanted Sierra, my 7 year old (8 in September) niece to be a Jr. bridesmaid, but the dress the ladies chose was a little too grown for a young child. They will both look oh so adorable in the dress we chose pictured below.

We chose dress in the bottom right hand corner, with mini bolero
This is what I want the sash to look like

My mom is a seamstress and will make the dresses for the girls. She’s already purchased the ivory material and tulle for the dresses. We just have to look for the fuchsia material for the sash. I’m aiming to have a big fat sash like the one pictured above. I’m not sure if it’s just folded and tacked in place, or just folded… who cares, it’s what I want so my mom will have to make it so! OK, I just sounded like a Bridezilla! hehehe ;)

The girls are going to look sooo cute coming down the aisle. The unfortunate thing is we are not allowed to throw anything during the ceremony, that’s right, not even fake it rose petals. What are the alternatives? Well, I’m going to make two big pomanders. I haven’t decided what flowers to use jut yet, maybe silk peonies in pink. I know there is a stash of fake flowers in the basement somewhere, I’ll have a gander and select from the bunch.

It’s a shame we couldn’t be together for this momentous occasion, but you should have received my care package by now. I hope you enjoy the goodies!

One more month to go, and then I can give you your pattywhacks! Can’t wait to see you Nikko!

That is all…

Not for the wedding silly, we still have 7 months to go! OMG 7 months!

I’m talking about only 1 month until I see Nick! His training will be complete on August 22nd. I can’t wait! I was all set to just arrive with a piece of carry-on luggage, until Nick informed me that he needed more room for all of his crap… I’m just playing :) So now I will be taking 2 pieces. Which is good, I can finally break in our luggage. We purchased a 5-piece Swiss Gear Set at Costco for only $150 last year.  SCORE!

The flight is going to be a long one, 5+ hours, I should be touching down in BC around noon PDT, but I will have plenty to keep me occupied. I just purchased a brand new Wedding Planning software called iDo Wedding Couple Edition. And yes, I do already have a planning program, and I’ve had a blast using it (thanks again Brandi), the only problem is that it has its limitations. I tried out the iDo software with their 30-day free trial and it is so easy and fun to use! I have decided to put off using it until the flight… it’ll give me something to do, aside from playing the Sims.

There were so many thing that I never thought of from, printing ID numbers on the back of the reply cards, to have all of the flight details for out of town guests readily available. It is a dream come true for us DIY brides who rely on Excel spreadsheets for everything.

Which reminds me, I have to get going on all of my DIY projects soon.  Stayed tuned for more updates!
